This is the life and death of a famous mother and her almost-famous son; theirs is a world of sexual extremes-even of sexual assassinations. Jenny Fields, who becomes known for her autobiography, A Sexual Suspect, thinks and lives ahead of her time. Garp's seduction of the babysitter is treated as a typical male indiscretion which has little significance to him and which he soon forgets.
